Harvey Eugene Bemelman, age 79, Rice, MN, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home in Rice.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, Rice, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Harvey was born December 20, 1935 in Parker, SD to Walter H. and Mary (Wiens) Bemelman. He served in the Minnesota National Guard. Harvey married JoAnn Grimsley Zierer on October 22, 1988 in St. Cloud, MN. He was employed as a truck driver for over 20 years. Harvey was a member of Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church. He loved fishing, hunting, animals and his four wheelers.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Bemelman of Rice, MN; daughter, Mary Zierer Bartowsheski of Oak Park, MN; two grandchildren, Francis Zierer and Shanna Zierer Delgado; and three great grandchildren, Ricky Lynn Zierer Parent, Jesse Michael Zierer and Layla Rose Zierer; nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Pam Bemelman, sister, Bernice Mauseth, and brother Harley Bemelman.

Pallbearers will be Justin Lutz, Francis Zierer, Larry Geariety, Brian Grimsley, Tim Grimsley and Glen Richards.
