ST. CLOUD -- You can sign your son or daughter up for GREAT Theatre's 2016 Summer Theatre Camp this week. Registration for season ticket holders is open today, with registration for everybody else opening Wednesday.

Summer theatre camps are available to kids of all skill levels from ages 3 to 18. Managing Director Lacey Schirmers says it's a fun and valuable experience for kids over the summer.

"Through stage skills, [the kids] learn a lot of life skills," Schirmers says. "A lot of kids gain confidence through them, they meet friends and have a good time -- there's a lot of different positives that come out of being involved with these camps."

"My daughter did it for the first time last year and she was pretty skeptical -- she doesn't really enjoy the spotlight -- but by the end of the week, she loved and couldn't wait to sign up again this year."

Schirmers says the camps range from basic theatre to more advanced, with subject matter varying from Star Wars to Shakespeare.

"This will be the first time we do the [Star Wars] one so that's unique and we did a bunch of Frozen camps last year so we brought that one back," Schirmers says. "The rest are all pretty classic titles like Peter Pan, Charlotte's Web, The Jungle Book, the Wizard of Oz, and Willy Wonka -- so there all ones that kids will be familiar with."

Registration begins Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. on GREAT Theatre's website. Otherwise, you can call them at 258-2787 to register over the phone.
