It's prime soup and sandwich season in the #BoldNorth, and while there are some great soup and sandwich stops around the Granite City, for those wanting to get out and explore all the land of 10,000 lakes has to offer, head north about an hour, hang a right off Highway 371 in Jenkins and look for Shiners.

Last night I was in search of a particular bench, it resembles a S'more, in the town of Jenkins, located off Highway 371 North of Brainerd and West of Crosslake. I ended up finding more than the bench when I may have stumbled upon a relatively new sandwich shop, that has had some really stellar reviews from visitors to Jenkins.

The sandwich shop's name is Shiners, and from what I've found it might be the best-kept secret in the world of soup and sandwiches. So far there have been more than 300 reviews and everyone talks about the quality of service to go along with the food.

A recent review seems to back up my hunch of superior soup and sandwiches, outside the St. Cloud area.

Ashley W on Google wrote this about Shiners:

Shiners is right by my house. The sandwiches are pretty good and the soups are great. They have an ok selection of beer (wish they had more local brews) and a full bar. What sets Shiners apart is the service. All the bartenders and kitchen staff will bed over backwards for you. They are all kind and friendly, and will happily chat with you if you sit at the bar. It’s a young crew, so if you’re over the age of 25 you might feel like a dinosaur but they still make you feel welcome. It’s never too loud in there so if you’re not a loud bar person this is the place for you. I highly recommend the chicken wild rice soup. Don’t forget to ask about the sub of the month!

Shiners is located at 34174 2nd Ave in Jenkins, MN.

Closer to home, if you are looking for some great soup and salad, we've got some great options, including in Sauk Rapids with the Lost Times Tavern. Other popular options are Bo-Diddley's, the Pickled Loon, Boulder Tap House, and Grizzlies.

Where do you go for good fall Minnesota-style soup and salad?
