SARTELL -- Drivers will soon be able to use a portion of the roundabout at the intersection of Pinecone Road and 2nd Street in Sartell.

City Engineer Mike Nielson says the east and westbound lanes will be open by the end of the day today (Friday).

The road will be down to one lane in each direction, but will provide drivers easier access area businesses, such as Walgreens and the Blue Line.

Nielson says you will not be able to make the full U-turn on the roundabout just yet. Crews still need to pave the north and southbound lanes.

Work on the southbound lane of Pinecone Road will begin on Monday, and if all goes well, drivers will be able to access three legs of the roundabout in about two weeks.

The northbound lane will still be closed for about another month as crews begin pavement replacement from the roundabout up to 7th Street.

Construction on the roundabout began on June 15th.
