Salty drivers give their thoughts on how to drive better in a roundabout

The St. Cloud metro area is no stranger to building roundabouts into its road designs and now the benefits and setbacks are starting to show.

Drivers will soon be able to use a portion of the roundabout at the intersection of Pinecone Road and 2nd Street in Sartell. City Engineer Mike Nielson says the east and westbound lanes will be open by the end of the day today (Friday).

Sartell residents should expect a few new detours along Pinecone road starting Monday. Pinecone Road from 7th Street North to Sundance Road will be closed to thru traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Sartell police are warning you to not move the barricades surrounding the Pinecone Road project. Police have received information about drivers moving the barricades on Pinecone from the 2nd Street South intersection or driving around them during the morning commute.

Drivers in south St. Cloud will encounter construction work at roundabouts along 33rd Street South this week.

The final approval has been passed in the upcoming Pinecone Road Improvements set to begin this summer. Plans and bids for Phase 1 of the project were approved by the Sartell city council tonight (Monday) by a 4-1 vote.

Construction along Pinecone Road has been planned into several phases over the next three years, which includes three roundabouts as early as spring.
