BLOOMNGTON, Minn. (AP) - Documents show La Quinta Inn & Suites was warned that a wall at its Bloomington hotel was "hanging by a thread" days before it partially collapsed.

No one was hurt but dozens of guests were evacuated and the hotel was damaged Monday when a section of cement stucco fell from the 14th floor's exterior.

Documents reportedly show a contractor assessed the wall Friday. In an email to La Quinta's director of construction in Texas, the contractor wrote the wall was an urgent issue that needed to be addressed.

La Quinta attorney Mark Solheim released a statement saying the hotel recently learned of cracking and promptly hired an engineer. A meeting was planned for Monday, but part of the facade fell before repairs could be made.
