Development Project Emerges for South St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD -- A plan to develop a large piece of property along 33rd Street South in St. Cloud has emerged.
The owners of Klein Landscaping and Nursery asked the city council to rezone their property from an agricultural district to a planned unit development. Their request received unanimous approval during Monday night's meeting.
Co-owner Larry Klein says part of their concept is to create some new soccer fields.
The soccer fields would be an option that the city had looked at if they wanted to expand the need of more soccer fields, with the current Neenah Creek master plan that would be an option to the north.
Klein says another possible idea is to build a 100,000 square foot fieldhouse.
There's been some discussion of a large recreation use that could blend in with some of the neighboring parks as well as the high school being adjacent to our property it would be a good fit.
Other features of the site could potentially include apartment buildings and commercial space.
Klein says the development of the property would mean Klein Landscaping would have to relocate either to a different site or be repositioned on the property.
Community Development Director Matt Glaesman says this is just a preliminary development plan and a more detailed plan would have to be provided later.
