AVON -- Crews responded to a house fire Thursday afternoon in rural Avon.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says a neighbor reported the fire at 31705 160th Avenue in Collegeville Township shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Deputies arrived on the scene to find the home fully engulfed in flames with the roof partially collapsed.

The owner, 48-year-old Joseph Rogers of Avon, was not home and nobody was hurt in the fire, but firefighters did have to rescue a pet from the fire.

The fire is being investigated by the state Fire Marshal.
