WASHINGTON -- After President Obama gives his State Of The Union Address tonight (Tuesday), Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will give her own response.

She says members of the organization The Tea Party Express asked her to give her speech on their website about a month ago.  She says she is not trying to upstage the official Republican  response, which will be delivered by Representative Paul Ryan from Wisconsin.

Bachmann says most members of Congress will give some sort of speech, or will give their thoughts to the media, after the State Of the Union Address.

Obama is expected to focus on job creation during tonight's address. Bachmann says she hopes he has a specific vision for getting Americans back to work.

According to government statistics the national unemployment rate was 8.5% when Obama was sworn into office in January 2009.  It got as high as 10.6% in January of last year.  And it's currently at 9.1%.

She says she ready to give a live rebuttal on the website teapartyexpress.org.

The State Of The Union address is at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
