Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Long Prairie for Charlotte L. Thom, age 92, of Long Prairie who passed away on Thursday at CentraCare Health Systems – Long Prairie. Rev. Omar Guanchez will officiate and burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Long Prairie. Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church with the St. Mary’s Catholic Women praying the rosary at 9 am. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie.

Charlotte Leda Cossette was born January 16, 1923 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Pierre and Emma (Pronovost) Cossette. She married George P. Thom on September 13, 1943 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Wild Rice, ND. The couple lived in Fargo for five years before making their home in Long Prairie in 1953, farming west of town for 32 years. Charlotte stayed home and raised their ten children until 1967. She worked at the Larsen Boat Works in Little Falls for two years, then she took a custodian position at Hart Press from 1970 until her retirement in 1985. The couple purchased a log home southeast of Long Prairie where they lived for 20 years and finally making their home with their son Earl, three miles west of Long Prairie.

Charlotte enjoyed sewing, crafts, quilting, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Janet Robinson, Brownton; Russell (Elaine) Thom, Sauk Centre; Earl Thom, Long Prairie; Bruce (Gloria) Thom, Rice; Wayne (Linda) Thom, Swanville; Larry (Sandy) Thom, Melrose; John Thom, Sauk Centre; Nancy (Calvin)Burslie, Henderson, NV; and Tim (Barb) Thom, Long Prairie; 34 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Barbara Skillings, brothers Gaston, Maurice, Lawrence, and Clifford, and sisters Laura, Hazel, and Lucille, and great-grandson, Tyler Thom.
