Coins, Crafts, Parades, And Art Markets Pack The Weekender Calendar
Wow, August is over half done, and school will start up in a little over a week for many cities in the area. You still have time to get in some weekend adventures before the hectic school year begins.
The Common Roots Festival is, of course, a headline event for this weekend, but there is so much more. What about the Dino Dig or Splash Pad Bubble Bash events from St. Cloud Parks and Rec?
Plus, John Mulaney brings his SNL stand-up humor to the Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park, and for moviegoers, you can see if the Coyote finally prevails in Coyote vs. ACME.
Oh, and don't forget to travel back in time at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, which kicks off this week as well. And feel free to let the kids dress up in Star Trek uniforms like on The Big Bang Theory.
Check out the Weekender below for a few more ideas to get you and the kids out before fall is here.

Check out treasures of old at an annual show on Sunday. The Mid MN Coin Expo is back at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud on Sunday. The show will have U.S. and foreign coins plus paper money, gold, platinum, silver, and stamps. You can buy, sell, trade, or just look around at history. The show will have on-site professional grading submissions as well. It is free to attend.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Think craft show meets swap meet at this annual event. St. John’s Episcopal Church in St. Cloud is hosting its 14th Annual Bizarre Bazaar. The event will have crafts, produce, baked goods, games, toys, plants, antiques, collectibles, books, glassware, tools, and more. Don’t confuse this event with the Granite City Bizarre Bazaar arts and crafts show. The event is free to attend.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The fun of city festivals is not quite done yet. Head down Highway 23 for Raymond’s 56th Annual Harvest Festival for two days filled with fun. Friday has a car show in the park, the Amazing Race Around Raymond, kids’ bubble station with hula hoops, and more. Saturday has a pickleball tournament, outdoor craft fair, Raymond Has Talent Show, Bean Bag Tourney, Zoo Man, a garden show, a kiddie parade, and Grand Day parade. There is a little something for everyone. Most of the events are free to attend. Use the link in the header to see the full list of activities, times, and locations in Raymond.
Friday: 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

SUMMER ART MARKET - ALEXANDRIA
You can find a unique gift for someone or treat yourself to a one-of-a-kind item in Alexandria for the next three Saturdays. The Alex Saturday Art Market is back at Big Ole Central Park. The juried art showcase has original art you won’t find anywhere else, like ceramics, paintings, woodworking, metalwork, and more. Plus, live music from 9:30 – 12:30 p.m. while you shop. And if that is not enough, the Art Market is right next door to the Farmers Market, so you can grab some fresh produce to bring home too (Sweet Corn anyone?). The Art Market is free to attend.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Do you have a home improvement project but don’t know where to start, or are you looking for ideas to update a room? Head down to the River Centre in St. Paul for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Home Show. The show is geared towards people who are in all stages of remodeling. The event will have a huge variety of home improvement professionals on hand with advice. You can find resources and ideas for home improvement, landscaping, and design services. Plus, exclusive show deals. The event is free if you pre-register online or $10 at the door. Use the link in the header above to pre-register.
