ST. CLOUD -- It's an affordable way to vacation and more families are getting into camping than ever before.  Camper and RV sales are rebounding well following the recent recession.

Pleasureland RV Center owner Dan Pearson says the number of campers shipped to dealers is about two-thirds of what it was before the recession and up considerably from its low point in 2009.

Pearson says part of the reason for the surge in sales is that many of the campers are affordable and lightweight.

Pearson says this is the busiest time of year because of the Minneapolis RV show this weekend and the Camp & Travel Expo in St. Cloud next week. Pearson says the St. Cloud show will be the largest regional camper expo in Minnesota and the second largest overall.

The Pleasureland Camp & Travel Expo is the first convention to utilize the entire newly expanded River's Edge Convention Center show space.

Pearson says the shows account for 10%-15% of his yearly sales.
