LITTLE FALLS -- A few golfers and residents were shocked when a bear was spotted in Little Falls yesterday (Tuesday).

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says they received a call just after 1:00 p.m. about a bear charging at some golfers while nearing the 9th hole at the Little Falls Golf Course.

The caller said the bear left towards a residential area.

When officers arrived, residents and golfers were told to leave the area for their safety.

The bear was later found in a small patch of woods along the river, near the 18th hole, which is also a residential area.

Several attempts were made to get the bear to leave but were unsuccessful.

After consulting with the DNR the bear was shot and killed. The DNR says they received several complaints regarding a bear hanging out in the same area.
