MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Dozens of fast-talking auctioneers from Minnesota and surrounding states are competing for the chance to be known as the best bid-caller in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

The Minnesota State Bid-Calling Championship contest is being held Thursday night as part of the Minnesota State Auctioneers Association's convention.

Organizers estimate more than 30 contestants will vie for the title. The competition is open to the public.

The winner will represent Minnesota auctioneers at a national convention in July.

The convention starts Thursday and runs through Saturday in Minneapolis.
