Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Alquin M. Hommerding, age 98, who died Monday at Assumption Home in Cold Spring surrounded by his family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish Prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning at the funeral home.

Alquin was born in Wakefield Township, MN to Mathew and Theresa (Keil) Hommerding. He married Luella Faber on September 9, 1941 in St. Nicholas. Alquin farmed all his life. Later in life, he started working at Cold Spring Granite until his Retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards and the concertina. Alquin enjoyed his grandchildren tremendously; his greatest joy was his family.

Survivors include his children, Ronald (Kathy Yurczyk), Delrose (Edwin) Hansen, Nancy (Wayne) Barthel, Jeff (Carol); son-in-law, Ervin (Samantha) DeWenter; sister, Alma Krueger; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; daughters, Donna Mae, Eleanora; siblings, George, Ernest, Betty Weber, Marie Rossman; daughter-in-law, Eileen Hommerding, son-in-law, Michael Fuchs; grandsons, David Hansen, Edwin Hansen, Jr and an infant boy.
