ST. CLOUD - A man who pleaded guilty to his involvement in the shooting death of officer Christopher Dewey in Northern Minnesota has been arrested again in St. Cloud.

Police arrested 29-year-old Daniel Vernier just before midnight on Monday in the 3400 block of 14th Street North.

He's accused of assaulting the 28-year-old mother of his children.

In the Dewey case, Vernier plead guilty in July of 2009 to the charge of failure to render assistance, in exchange for testifying against the accused shooter Thomas Fairbanks.  Vernier admitted to being at the scene of the shooting near Mahnomen on February 18, 2009 , but says he didn't know who shot whom until later.  According to the plea agreement, Vernier's other 16 charges were dropped.

Meanwhile, jury selection was set to begin this week in Crookston in the trial against Fairbanks.  The Fargo Moorhead newspaper In Forum reports Vernier was in court on Monday, just hours before being arrested in St. Cloud.
