Xcel Energy and St. Cloud to Hold Emergency Response Exercise

ST. CLOUD -- A training exercise will mean plenty of sirens, police and fire responders in north St. Cloud tomorrow (Tuesday). But, officials want you to know it's only a training exercise and there is no danger to the public.

Xcel Energy will be working with St. Cloud Police, firefighters, and local emergency management officials to simulate the response to a severed natural gas line.

The exercise will take place in the area of 4th Street North and 37th Avenue, just north of the Short Stop Custom Catering.

This is only a training exercise and the city of St. Cloud is asking you to respect the boundaries of the mock emergency and avoid calling 911, to ensure dispatchers are free to handle actual emergencies.

The training exercise will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
