William “Bill” John Kirchner, 75, St. Cloud

William “Bill” John Kirchner, age 75, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday October 11, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN.

A gathering of family of friends will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Following the gathering a reception will be held at Granite VFW Post #428, St. Cloud, MN.

Bill was born April 1, 1940 in St. Cloud, MN to Benjamin and Margaret (Bestgen) Kirchner. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. Bill married Bonnie Scherweit on August 22, 1964. They later divorced. Bill owned and operated Bill’s Body and Don’s Auto Repair. He enjoyed shooting, pool, golf and playing the stock market.

Survivors include children, Rob Kirchner of Foley, MN; Brenda (Jeff Czech) Kirchner of St. Joseph, MN; and Kristie Kirchner of Duluth, MN; three grandchildren, Brandon, Marissa and Grace; sisters-in-law, Martha Kirchner of Sauk Rapids, MN; and Eileen Kirchner of St. Cloud, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Otmar, Edwin, Adolph, Leander, Nick and Richard Kirchner, and sister, Lillian Erdmann.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, especially Crystal and Stacey.
