The College of St. Benedict will host a panel discussion tomorrow (Wednesday) night on the impact publishing has on the environment and green practices in the publishing industry.

Each year, more than 20-million trees are harvested for books, newspapers and magazines.  And, this panel will talk about how green practices can be incorporated into publishing companies' environmental policies, whether traditional publishing is sustainable and the role of digital books.

Economics professor Ernie Diedrich will moderate a panel of publishing professionals including environmental groups who work to make the industry more environmentally conscious.

The event is free and open to the public.  It will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Gorecki Dining Center.  It's sponsored by the Literary Arts Institute and St. Ben's.
