ST. JOSEPH - We have a better idea today (Tuesday) about what a new St. Joseph water facility may include. The plans include: an open flume slide, an enclosed body slide, and a plunge area.  There's also an inner tube slide, a lazy river, and a multi-use pool with two diving boards. The facility would also include a concession stand and a changing room.

USA Aquatics unveiled their schematic designs last (Monday) night during a joint meeting of the St. Joseph city council, Planning Commission, and Park Board.

St. Joseph City Administrator Judy Weyrens says the next step is to start looking at possible sites and the cost to build it. Weyrens says they want to create a regional drawn, not just something for St. Joseph residents.

Besides this water park, St. Joseph is also considering a new community center. The half-cent sales tax would be used to build both facilities. No timeline has been set yet for construction.
