ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Public Library will now remain closed until further notice. That's after an arsonist started a fire on the second floor on Wednesday afternoon.

Associate Director of Public Relations Julie Henne says they're still assessing the smoke damage to the building and their collection of books and other items.

She says they've brought in professionals to help with the clean-up.

They've called in some extra hands, since it's such a large building. They are in there cleaning. We are working with a skeleton staff right now, just to ensure that our other 31 locations are still operating.

Henne says there's 106,000 items on the second floor, along with about 70 computers, that all need to be checked by hand.

They're also waiting on an air quality assessment, which should be back early next week.

St. Cloud Police say 47-year-old Jorge Ozornia of St. Cloud started the fire. He faces charges of 1st degree arson.
