Twins Sign Closer Glen Perkins to Extension Through 2017

FORT MYERS - The Minnesota Twins have signed closer Glen Perkins to a new extension through the 2017 season.

The deal guarantees Perkins $22.175 million through the '17 season.

Perkins was an All-Star for the first time in his career last year. The lefty had a 2.30 ERA and collected 36 saves in 40 chances. Perkins pitched 62 2/3 innings and struck out 77 and walked 15 on the year.
