OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Twins' bats struggled to get going Friday night against Athletics' starter Scott Kazmir.

Kazmir took a perfect game into the seventh inning before Kennys Vargas lined a single off A's shortstop, Jed Lowrie.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson held the A's scoreless before running into trouble in the fifth inning.

With the bases loaded, Oakland centerfielder Coco Crisp tripled to right-center field and soon scored on a passed ball.

Trailing by six runs in the seventh, the Twins broke through against Kazmir - scoring five runs, including back-to-back RBI doubles by Chris Parmelee and Eduardo Nunez.

That would be the extent of the Twins' scoring as they could not complete the comeback, dropping their 11th straight game to Oakland since September of last year.
