MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police say a 5-year-old boy who was trick-or-treating on Halloween has died after he was struck by a car while crossing a street.

Officers were called to the crash in north Minneapolis around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police found the boy in critical condition. A preliminary investigation shows the boy was hit by the car as he crossed Victory Memorial Parkway, then became trapped under the car.

Police say the boy was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he later died. His name was not immediately released.

Police spokesman John Elder says adults were with the boy, who was out trick-or-treating.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. Police say the driver stopped and is cooperating with investigators.
