MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that that happened in south Minneapolis Friday night.

A police statement says the 59-year-old suspect was arrested early Sunday while attempting to flee the state. The statement gave few details.

Charges are pending.

The Hennepin County medical examiner identifies the victim as 53-year-old Kenneth Madison, of Minneapolis. He died early Saturday of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police have not given a motive for the shooting.

The medical examiner has also identified the victim of an unrelated stabbing at a different location in south Minneapolis. Forty-six-year-old Nanette Marie Haghi, who had no permanent address, died of a stab wound to the chest early Saturday. No arrests have been announced in that case.
