Stolen Vehicle Follow-Up Leads To Car Chase in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Police were involved in a car chase after conducting a follow up on a stolen vehicle.

Police say 19-year-old Brandon Gene Knowlen of St. Cloud fled from officers in the area of 33rd Ave South and 2nd Street South just after 3:00 p.m. Monday.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle near Coborn's on Cooper Avenue, but a community service officer later saw the vehicle on the southeast part of town near Riverside Park.

According to police, Knowlen fled westbound on University Dr. South at 5th Avenue South as a second pursuit began.

Officers finally located Knowlen at the 1400 block of Washington Memorial Drive South, when he drove the vehicle into a detached garage at an apartment complex.

After a short struggle, Knowlen was taken into custody.

Knowlen is being held at the Stearns County Jail. He faces two counts of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and obstructing legal process.
