ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - St. Paul police shot and injured a man after a high-speed chase.

Police say the chase began about 5:15 p.m. Friday when the driver refused to pull over during a traffic stop.

The vehicle had a broken side window, but Sgt. Paul Paulos says he didn't know whether the car was stolen.

The driver then wove through residential streets, at times reaching speeds up to 80 mph.

A 24-year-old man jumped from the vehicle at one point but was apprehended almost immediately.

The man who was shot was not immediately identified. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Paulos says officers believed the man was armed but would not say whether investigators had recovered a weapon or whether the man had fired upon officers.
