ST. CLOUD -- The Mississippi Bluffs Regional Park is getting some upgrades thanks to the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. The city of St. Cloud was awarded a $427,000 grant to use for improvements.

St. Cloud Parks Director Scott Zlotnik says they will use the money to extend a trail, build a boat launch, create parking and a service road.

He will go before the City Council to ask for the matching portion of the grant and additional funds to complete their two-phase improvement project. Zlotnik says the 20-percent match is about $127,000 but will ask for up to $1-million in half-cent sales tax funding.

Zlotnik says the improvements were scheduled as part of their Capital Improvement Program in 2012-13 and this Legacy Grant allows them to get started early.
