Oxton says through investigating, police found out 22-year-old Anthony Shriver of Waconia was walking home with a group of friends when the group encountered several other men walking. Witnesses say Shriver was punched in the face after an argument with another man, 21-year-old Travis Johnson of St. Cloud.

Johnson was arrested and taken to the Stearns County Jail where he received a citation for 5th degree assault.

Oxton says Shriver refused medical attention and only complained of a headache, he went home with his friends after the incident.

Later that day, shortly before 12:30 p.m. officers got a call about an unresponsive man at a residence in the 2200 block of 10th Avenue South. When paramedics arrived they performed life saving measures but the man didn't survive.

Oxton says the man's body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office and identified as Shriver. Results from the autopsy say Shriver died from trauma consistent with the assault that happened earlier in the day.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. Johnson turned himself in at the St. Cloud Police Department. He was taken to the Stearns County Jail where he is being held on a 2nd degree murder charge.
