ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area School District approved a conflict of interest policy during their meeting on Thursday night.

The purpose of the policy is to guide the district when observing conflict of interest policies applicable to school board members.

The board has been worried about conflict of interest issues with the Local Education and Activities Foundation, since Bruce Hentges was re-elected to the board in November. Hentges is currently the executive director of LEAF.

Part of the policy states that a school board member with financial interest in a sale, lease, or contract that presents a conflict of interest, must immediately tell the school board about that interest before they take office.

The member will then have to refrain from participating in any action relating to that interest.

Last month, Hentges removed himself from the room when the board ended a revenue-sharing deal with LEAF.
