As we all know, there really was no winter here in Minnesota last year.  That is completely crazy when you think about the fact that winter is one of the things that Minnesota is known for.  When you talk to someone about the fact that you live in Minnesota, one of the first things you will probably hear is "it's really cold there" or "what do you do with all of that snow?"  Those two things were not something we had to deal with last year.

This year, things are looking a bit different.  First of all, we are going to get some of the coldest temperatures since last year, and secondly, it's perfect for some of the skiing and tubing hills to make some snow for the upcoming long holiday weekend.

Even though there isn't a big snow storm predicted for this weekend, the cold temperatures are going to be here, so let's make snow while the sun shines... or while the cold happens.

There are several skiing and tubing hills around the state of Minnesota, but for this, I will just focus onsome of the more popular ones in the area.

POWDER RIDGE - Kimball

Tentative opening date for Season Pass Holders is Wednesday, November 27th.  Tentative opening date for everyone is Friday, November 29th.
(opening day is weather dependent) 

Tentative opening date for snowtubing is December 26th!

ANDES TOWER HILLS - Kinsington

GLENDALOUGH STATE PARK - Battle Lake

You are going to have to wait until Mother Nature provides some snow for any snow-related activities.

MOUNT SKI GULL - Nisswa

Looks like this spot will be opening the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend.  LIke 5th - 6th.  That is also dependant on the weather.

BUENA VISTA SKI AREA - Bemidji

They would like everyone to keep track to their hours and condidtions by accessing their Facebook page.

BUCK HILL- Burnsville

Buck Hill is in the process of making snow for the upcoming weekend.  They will be closed on Thanksgiving day, but will open back up at 9am on Black Friday.  You can keep track of their hours on their website. 

There are several others throughout the state of Minnesota. Depending on where you will be for Thanksgiving, you might want to check on ski and tubing hills near you.  The Explore Minnesota website is a great resource.
