Smoldering Brush Pile Blamed for Stearns County Grass Fire
FARMING TOWNSHIP - Several hundred acres were burned in a grass fire in Farming Township, south of Albany, yesterday (Sunday).
Albany Fire Chief Gary Winkels says no structures were burned. The initial call came in at about 2:00 p.m. and crews were on the scene until about 10:30 p.m.
It's believed a smoldering brush pile from days earlier sparked the fire.
Five fire departments, as well as the DNR, were on scene. One fire fighter suffered minor injuries.
