ST. CLOUD - You may have recently noticed a new sculpture while walking around Lake George.

The "Hey Mary Lou!" statue is on the east shore of Lake George, north of the boat house, and it's part of a larger display, a one year Sculpture Walk that's coming to St. Cloud.

Sculpture Walk St. Cloud will be a one-year outdoor exhibit of 12 temporary and two permanent pieces of large-scale sculpture. Three pieces of art will be on the east and north shore of Lake George. Nine new works will wind through downtown St. Cloud and two permanent pieces of sculpture already in the downtown will also be included.

One other sculpture, "Ant-Venture", appeared last weekend on the corner of 8th Avenue and 1st Street South, across from St. Mary's Cathedral.

The United Arts of Central Minnesota will officially launch Sculpture Walk St. Cloud on Friday, July 1st.

The 2016-2017 Sculpture Walk features the work of accomplished artists from the St. Cloud area and across Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota. 55 entries from 26 artists from the Midwest and one from as far away as Miami, Florida were received.

In a press release, United Arts Executive Director Cindy Hawker says they hope the 14 unique pieces bring new energy and interest to downtown St. Cloud. Artists will be installing their work during the next few weeks.

The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite sculpture from July 15th through August 12th. The winning artist will receive $500. Ballots will be available at the Paramount Center, Gallery Saint Germain and at the St. Cloud Library circulation desk.

A reception for the sculptors will be held on August 12th, during the downtown Summer Art Crawl. The St. Cloud Parks and Rec Department also welcomes-encourages you to take selfies with the statues and share them via social media.
