Sauk Rapids Joins In Governor’s Fishing Opener Fun [VIDEO]

SAUK RAPIDS - Beautiful weather and fantastic food brought people to Sauk Rapids Saturday afternoon.

The Opener By The Park was at Southside/Lions Park Promenade right off the Mississippi River.

Roy Dodds is the owner of Urban Lodge Brewery and Restaurant. He says the event featured a lot of what Sauk Rapids has to offer.

"This was a community collaboration with Mixin It Up Gluten Free Bakery, Old Capitol Tavern, Manea's Meats and Urban Lodge."

Just down the hill from the festivities a few people were fishing but said they had not gotten to many bites but that the great weather made up for the lack of luck on the river.

Those who stopped fishing stopped by the Opener By The Park event. Dodds says he hopes this helps people get to know Sauk Rapids a little better.

"We want them to remember a vibrant community where everybody works together."

Miss Minnesota stopped by event as well as a former Vikings player and a few state representatives.
