OUTING  (AP) - A 51-year-old Sartell man has died in a hunting accident on the opening weekend of Minnesota's firearms deer season.

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says his office received a report early Sunday of a missing hunter in the Outing area. Searchers found him about 10 a.m. near his deer stand.

The sheriff appears he had fallen from his stand, causing his gun to discharge accidentally and fatally wounding him.

The incident remains under investigation pending autopsy results. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

He was one of at least three Minnesota hunters who died in falls from deer stands during the opening weekend.
