SARTELL - Dog owners in Sartell are barking up the right tree, on plans to build a new dog park.

The city council voted 3-2 this (Monday) evening in favor of a seven-acre dog park within the newly created Pinecone Central Park.  Council member David Peterson and Mayor Joe Perske voted against it, citing concerns about using that park.

A group of dog lovers formed the Sartell Dog Park Action Committee, with the goal of raising the $150,000 necessary to create the park.  They needed the city to essentially donate the land within one of the city's parks, so they can move ahead with their fundraising effort, and make the park a reality.
