ST. CLOUD - The air was chilly, but shoppers and well-wishers gathered at the Cooper Avenue Coborn's on Thursday evening to commemorate the start of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle donation drive.

The evening included appearances by Santa Claus and “Big Sal,” the country’s largest red kettle along with live Christmas music.

The St. Cloud Salvation Army has set a goal of raising $220,000 through red kettle donations, which continues through Christmas Eve. Red Kettles will be located outside of 23 area businesses this year.
