Richard O. Vogel, 78, St. Cloud

Richard Otto Vogel, age 78, St. Cloud, MN died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Richard was born January 12, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Walter J. and Mary (Zajac) Vogel. He played for the St. Cloud Rox as a first baseman and pitcher in 1959. On November 5, 1960 Richard married Jeanne Ethen at St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Richard was employed by Dezurik, Inc of Sartell, MN for 32 years retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Richard was a huge fan of baseball, especially of the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and doing yard work. Family was an important part of Richard’s life especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanne Vogel of St. Cloud, MN; children, Deborah (Lawrence) Dell of Severn, MD; David (Katherine) Vogel of West Bend, WI; and Cheryl (Joseph) Fredrickson of Fridley, MN; brother Edward J. Vogel of Salt Lake City, UT; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Jeffrey, Adrian, Olivia, Grace and Rachel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
