ST. JOSEPH -- A meeting was held Thusday night for members on a committee considering plans for a potential aquatic center to be built in St. Joseph in the near future.

The city has identified three potential sites for the facility, two are visible from county road 75, and one is visible from county road 133. All three are private property and would have to be bought by the city.

The meeting centered on potential sites and costs of a proposed aquatic center that would include amenities like water slides, a lazy river, and a multi-use pool. A new amenity they discussed adding to the designs is a zip line over the pool.

Committee member Matt Killam says the group met to discuss the various factors going in to a potential St. Joseph aquatic center.

The meeting lasted for about 90 minutes and Killam says it was a productive night as the discussions will continue to move forward in the coming weeks.

Killam says the committee is excited about the possibility of bringing an aquatic center to St. Joseph.

"We really think it's going to help out our community," Killam says, "and really help to grow the St. Cloud area."

The potential cost of the project hasn't been defined yet, but they're hoping to have that figured narrowed down by next week.
