Paul David Groethe, age 29, Sartell, MN, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his home in Sartell,

Funeral services will be Friday, July 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM at The Waters in Sartell, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at church in Sartell and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Paul was born May 26, 1987 in St. Cloud, MN to Craig and Victoria (Barrett) Groethe. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 2005, where he was active in band and jazz band. Paul was a member of the All Conference Jazz Band and a runner up at All State Jazz Band. He also was a member of the St. Cloud All Star City Jazz Band for a number of years. Paul graduated from McNally Smith College of Music in 2007 where he received a Merit Scholarship. He worked as a musician/drummer for various bands and churches. Paul was also a drum instructor and wrote curriculum for teaching drumming.

Paul was an exceptional drummer, a brilliant writer, composer and a genius comic.

Survivors include his parents, Craig and Victoria Groethe of St. Cloud, MN; brother, Carey (Amanda) Groethe of St. Cloud, MN; sister, Christine (Kaliber) Olson of Enumclaw, WA; nieces and nephew, Kopelyn and Kaldonia Olson and Isaiah and Madelynn Groethe; grandfather, Paul E. Groethe of Sauk Rapids, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fern Groethe, and Roger and Darlene Barrett, and aunt, Dawn Ostendorf.
