ST. CLOUD -- The new owners of the historic D.B. Searle's building on Fifth Avenue in downtown St. Cloud are auctioning off the old sign.

The big blue 'D.B. Searle's' letters are scheduled to be removed on Wednesday.  The former business name did not come with the building when they bought it in June, therefore they must be removed.

The new building owners, Darin and Michelle Agnew, say they have had requests to make it available to buy as historical memorabilia. In an effort to accommodate these requests, they are offering a sealed bid auction. Letters of intent need to include a specific bid offer amount with full name, address, email, and phone number. Sealed letters must be dropped off or postmarked by Friday, November 30.

The Agnews say the money raised will be invested into the continued restoration of the historic building, including a new elevator system.

Sealed bids may be sent to:
DB Searle's Sign Auction
c/o General Manager, Searles on Fifth Ave
18 5th Avenue South
St. Cloud, MN 56301

The starting bid is $500 and the sign will be sold in as-is condition.

Indigo Signworks also designed the new Searles on Fifth Ave signage for the new restaurant and bar and plans to install it on Wednesday as well. The new bar and restaurant is scheduled to be opened in the next few weeks.
