ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud State University Welcome Center held the Eight Annual Northern Plains Winter Storm Conference this afternoon to discuss the latest advancements.

Dr. Heather Reeves, with the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies was today's Keynote Speaker. She says she is excited about the development of the new Hydrometeor Classification Algorithm (HCA).

Dr. Reeves says the new development will give out more information regarding snow and rain readings.

However the technology still needs to go through proper testing.

Dr. Reeves says she hopes to see the developments become operational in the next few years.
