Minnesota Judicial Branch Expresses Thanks To Jurors
ST. PAUL (AP) - The Minnesota Judicial Branch is taking this week to thank Minnesotans who have answered the call to serve on a jury.
Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea has proclaimed this week is Juror Appreciation Week.
She says jurors are the beating heart of the justice system, and it's important for the judiciary to recognize them.
During the week, district courts will hold various activities to thank jurors.
Some districts will hand out thank you notes and American flags, others will plan games such as word finds, and some will post Gildea's proclamation or read it aloud.
Each year, the judicial branch gets names from driver's licenses, state ID cards, and voter registration lists and compiles that information. A computer then randomly selects people to be jurors.
