Minnesota Based Airline Cancels Flights to North Carolina
By now, you’ve heard of the devastation that has occurred in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene last week. I am from that area, and my family all have their power back, but not internet or cable tv service, and to say there’s a lot of cleanup to do is an understatement.
Cell phone towers are also working again, but service is “spotty”, meaning it may take a bit to get a call to go through, and the call may drop before you are finished.
I wrote yesterday about the aftermath and how you could help if you wanted to.
Asheville was a popular destination for people from Minnesota. You could catch direct flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul and with a flying time of around two hours, it was an easy trip.
I made that trip in June for a weekend to take my granddaughter home and see my elderly mother for a few days. My wife is scheduled to make a trip back there next week, but she won’t be able to fly to Asheville.
Her flight is on Sun Country, and they have decided to halt operations to Asheville. They normally do this each year in November, but with all that has happened there with the Hurricane, the airline moved up their timeline.
The Asheville Airport posted on Facebook yesterday that anyone who had a flight scheduled with Sun Country should contact the airline directly.
We did this last night, and it was a seamless process. The operator from Sun Country handled the changes we needed with ease since my wife will now have to fly in and out of a different airport.
The Sun Country Airline number is 651-905-2737. If you are flying on a different airline, you should contact them to make your changes.
