ST. CLOUD -- The GREAT Theatre presents the opening of the musical, "Les Miserables" at the Paramount Theatre tonight (Friday).

The play is based on Victor Hugo's novel set in France back in the early 19th century. It captures the lives of a few main characters and their struggles for survival.

Main character Jean Valjean is a convict on the run from local police. His life changes when he meets a factory worker's daughter, Cosette and starts taking care of her.

Megan Potter plays Cosette's mother Fantine. Potter says the songs are emotional and take a lot of energy out of the actors.

The audience can expect to hear many of the play's well-known songs including, "Castle On A Cloud," "I Dreamed A Dream," "At The End Of The Day" and many more.

The show starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. and runs through Sept. 22nd. For ticket information contact the Paramount Theatre box office.
