Study Reveals Minnesota’s Moral Standing Among The States
When it comes to living a sin-free life, folks in Minnesota have it pretty easy.
In a recent study conducted by WalletHub, the state of Minnesota was ranked as the sixth-least sinful in the country. Using the categories of Anger and Hatred; Jealousy; Excesses/Vices; Greed and Lust, Minnesota finished ahead of only Maine, Vermont, Idaho, New Hampshire and Wyoming.
HOW SINFUL IS MINNESOTA?
Minnesota's biggest sin? Vanity, where the Land of 10,000 Lakes finished 19th in the country. Otherwise, Minnesota did not finish in the top 20 in any category.
Minnesota ranked 46th in Anger/Hatred; 36th in Jealousy; 39th in Excesses/Vices, 30th in Greed, 42nd in Lust and 48th for Laziness.
Minnesota boasts the second-lowest share of population with a gambling disorder, behind only Mississippi.
“People across the nation have their own moral struggles, from violent outbursts and bullying to compulsive gambling, excessive lust and self-destructive consumption," Chip Lupo of WalletHub said. "While individual cases of negative behavior may only affect a few people, when these behaviors are exhibited by a high share of a state’s population, the majority of the state’s residents suffer as a result. States should invest in resources to help people curb vices, such as robust rehabilitation programs for people with gambling and drug addictions.”
THE MOST SINFUL STATES IN AMERICA
According to the WalletHub study, Nevada is the most sinful state in the country, ranking #1 in Greediness and #2 in both Jealousy and Excesses/Vices.
California follows as the second-most sinful state, with Louisiana, Florida and Texas rounding out the top five.
