ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area School District is preparing to bring their language immersion programs into the middle schools.

For five years now Madison elementary has offered a Chinese language classroom, and Clearwater elementary has had a Spanish language classroom.

The oldest kids in both programs are now in the 4th grade and district officials want to continue to offer them those classes as they get older.  The school board is expected to make a plan by late this summer.

In a language immersion program all subjects are taught in that language.

Officials say the programs have been used as a tool to attract new students into the district.
