SARTELL -- While most of us try to stay inside from the cold, snow plow drivers continue to brave the streets.

Through snow fall and blowing winds plows are busy removing snow and salting streets.

But the last few heavy snowfalls have required plows to dump more salt on the roads then normal.

Sartell Public Works Director Brad Borders says they have about 1600 tons of salt on hand, which usually lasts a few years.

Borders says this year alone they have used about 1200 tons of salt. The most they have ever used in a season.

Borders has put in a final order for salt. He says come March they usually cut back on salt usage because of warmer weather.
