SAINT PAUL - The Minnesota Gophers won the inaugural North Star College Cup in a shootout against the Duluth Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Kyle Rau, Nate Condon, Hudson Fasching and Travis Boyd all scored for the Gophers to tie the game 4-4 in regulation.

The game had to be decided through a shootout. Kyle Rau and Seth Ambroz both put pucks in to secure the tournament victory.

A crowd of over 14,000 gathered at the Xcel Energy Center for the final game of the tournament. Gopher goalie Adam Wilcox was named MVP of the tournament. Wilcox made 38 saves in wins over St. Cloud State and against the Bulldogs.

The #1 ranked Gophers are now 18-2-4 this year.
