ST. CLOUD -- A Waite Park man has been sentenced for sexual assaulting a vulnerable adult who was working at WACOSA.

Thirty-six-year-old Michael Lawson Jr. was sentenced to a year in jail, but all but three of those days were stayed. The Stearns County Attorney's Office says Lawson served one of the three days in jail and will be allowed serve the remaining two days through community service.

Lawson pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor of 5th degree criminal sexual conduct in November.

He was a staffer at WACOSA in January 2015 when a witness saw him touch the breast of a worker who is a vulnerable adult. Records show the victim told officers Lawson had been engaging in unwanted sexual contact with her for the past two years and that he previously touched her and exposed himself to her.

Lawson no longer works at WACOSA and was disqualified from any position providing for vulnerable adults by the Department of Human Services. Lawson must also undergo a psychological evaluation and abide by all recommendations.
